Entry for the 2016 Finn Junior World Championship is now open…

The entry for the 2016 Finn Junior World Championship is now open and notice of race is available.

The venue for the 2016 Finn Junior World Championship, the Kaløvig Sailing Club in Aarhus (Denmark)  is not new to hosting international sailing events – on the contrary.

In 2015 the club were hosting no less than three major, olympic events, namely the Nacra 17 World Championship, the Laser Standard Europeans and the Laser Radial Europeans.

In 2014 the club were hosting the Zoom8 World Championships and in 2013 the 29er World Championships.

Kaløvig-campingKaløvig is also well known for achieving major results at the Olympics and especially one Kaløvig crew is world famous namely the Danish 49er team Warrer/Kirketerp who won a spectacular medal race at the 2008 Olympics when breaking their mast just before the start. The team managed to get ashore, lending a boat from a croatian team, re-entering the medal race and secure a 8th place which was just enough to secure the team the Olympic gold medal.

Besides a long track record of hosting olympic class events in Kaløvig , it is the first time that the club is hosting a Finn dinghy event.

The Kaløvig Sailing Club is one of the six founding member clubs of Sailing Aarhus, the organizer of the 2018 World Sailing Championships which are taking place in Aarhus.

The 2016 Finn Junior World Championship is organized by Sailing Aarhus in conjunction with Kaløvig Sailing Club and supported by the City of Aarhus and Sport Event Denmark.
